All international applicants (except those noted below) are required to submit a valid TOEFLiBT score to demonstrate spoken English proficiency. The scores noted below meet the UW language requirement for international teaching assistants: 26 on the speaking portion of the TOEFLiBT, or 65 on the Versant English Test (if taken at the UW campus) Applicants who achieve one of these scores will be given higher priority for departmental funding.

All applicants are required to take the General Test of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE); GMAT scores are not accepted. No consideration is given to an application until the department receives official GRE scores. Therefore, prospective students should sign up to take the GRE as early as possible. GRE scores older than 5 years will not be accepted. There is no minimum cut-off for GRE scores.
